I am supporting a fundraising campaign to support Charity Bounce programs in Alice Springs. The Stand Tall initiative consists of basketball and leadership programs for young people, with a focus on Indigenous communities in Alice Springs. The strength based programs aim to develop life and leadership skills, using basketball as a means of engagement and providing an impacting experience that inspires participants to set goals and be motivated about their own future.

ABOUT CHARITY BOUNCE

Charity Bounce is a not for profit organisation that exists to inspire positive change to overcome disadvantage for individuals and communities.  With a focus on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders and Culturally diverse communities, including newly arrived refugees, we aim to move people toward a more positive future through the development of sports, the arts, health, education and employment focused social programs. 

Help us raise $50,000 to assist Nywente Aboriginbal Community in Alice Springs in funding Stand Tall programs, development of ongoing programs in new communities, and assisting in registration fees & uniforms.

WHY BASKETBALL?

It is well proven that sport has the ability to positively unite communities towards a positive future through team building, a sense of belonging and encouraging a healthy lifestyle just to name a few. The Nywenete Basketball Club has been able to transform the community and provides the children and young people with a sense of pride in their community, winning a few championships already since they started.

The basketball club was established in 2010, by the Nyewente community and continues to achieve positive outcomes for their young people and the community as a whole. A large number of people in the community defied the health, education and other statistics that commonly define people living in similar circumstances.  The Nyewente community is proud of these achievements, which are built and maintained from within their community.
